Positive Reinforcement
Clicker-Training
Carpe Diem Training understands that the bond between horse and rider does not start in the saddle. The most commonly used training method in the equine industry is Negative Reinforcement or "pressure and release". Although this method has been used for centuries, we have learned so much about how the equine mind works and how they learn which has open up a new outlook on training. Reward based training, or Positive Reinforcement helps build trust, improve communication, boost confidence, and make learning fun.

Clicker-Training, or marker-based training is a form of Positive Reinforcement training that focuses on marking a behavior that is desired and reinforcing it with something that the animal enjoys. This technique has been used throughout the animal world from marine mammals to different species in zoo to household pets and to our beloved horses. It creates clear communication, leading to faster learning, which builds confidence and a stronger bond between animal and trainer.
Carpe Diem Training offers an enlightening approach to "out of the saddle" training. Using Clicker-Training and the power or Positive Reinforcement, you can explore new connections with your equine partner through Liberty Work, Trick-Training, helping improve desired behaviors and making learning fun for your horse through freedom of choice and play.
